Die casting Product Examples

The diversity of die casting in China expands day by day. There is hardly a metal end product that does not use some component that has been die cast, in some form or another. Be it one-off precision die cast parts, prototypes, or high volume die cast products.

Chinese companies are highly skilled in the die casting process, using machines whose sizes range from 200 tons to 4000 tons. The method used to inject molten metal into the die will depend on the characteristics of your metal, be it aluminum (aluminium), or zinc. This will require the use of either a hot chamber or cold chamber. Occasionally high integrity die casting methods are required, such as squeeze casting - a method by which molten alloy is cast without turbulence and gas entrapment at high pressure to yield high quality, dense, heat treatable components, or semi-solid molding - a procedure where semi-solid metal billets are cast to provide dense, heat treatable castings with low porosity.

Examples of Chinese die casting are far too numerous to possibly list in full here but the diecastings they produce range in complexity to produce any non-ferrous metal parts (that need not be as strong, hard or heat-resistant as steel) from sink faucets to engine blocks; from hardware to component parts of machinery, toy cars, etc). In fact, the process lends itself to making any metal part that:

• must be precise (dimensions plus or minus as little as 50 µm--over short distances),
• must have a very smooth surface that can be bright plated without prior polishing and buffing,
• has very thin sections (like sheet metal--as little as 1.2 mm),
• must be produced much more economically than parts primarily machined (multicavity die casting moulds operating at high speed are much more productive than machine tools or even stamping presses),
• must be very flexible in design; a single die casting may have all the features of a complex assembly.

These parts are manufactured in China and exported to the US, UK, EU and Australia. They show the precision and consistency of Chinese die casting workmanship that matches western requirements but at a significantly lower import cost.
