The Chinese Die casting Processes
Chinese die casting plants offer a standard, recognized die casting process consisting of injecting molten metal under high pressure into a steel die. Machine sizes range from 200 tons to 4000 tons. Plants use both hot chamber or cold chamber methods for die casting, depending on the type of metal required, be it zinc for hot chamber or aluminum (aluminium) for cold chamber. Some plants can offer vacuum die casting, improving the surface finish and integrity of your castings and reducing wear on the die.
Vacuum die casting evacuates the air in the die cavities prior to the injection of alloy. This process allows the part to "quick fill" by a combination of reduced back pressure and a high injection rate. This allows for a product with better surface finish, reduced gas porosity, and reduced leakage problems.
Chinese die casting companies provide everything from one-off precision die casting parts to high volume die casting production in a variety of materials including aluminum (aluminium), zinc, copper, magnesium, brass and their alloys.
Prototyping is also available in China. Prototype parts can be made in quantities starting with a single unit and up to hundreds or even thousands. Perfect where precision is required (dimensions plus or minus as little as 50 µm--over short distances), or for products which must have a very smooth surface that can be bright plated without prior polishing and buffing, or where design calls for very thin sections (as little as 1.2 mm), or which must be produced much more economically than parts primarily machined (multicavity die casting moulds operating at high speed are much more productive than machine tools or even stamping presses), or flexibility is required; a single die casting may have all the features of a complex assembly.
The Chinese die casting market offers substantially lower hourly rates than their western competitors. There are two reasons for this. The first is obvious – low wages. The second reason is the low capital cost of Chinese die casting equipment. There are a substantial number of die casting manufacturers in China producing high quality, precision die casting for both the Chinese market and for export.
Exports of die cast products have risen rapidly over the last two to three years because of these factors while die casting hourly rates have dropped. As die casting increases in volume, China will become an even greater export source for die casting.
